Putting the house up for sale

Well this week I completed the decorating and have now decided that it's time to offer the place for sale. My plan is to try and sell privately on the web as I'm deeply suspicious of estate agents who don't really seem to do very much, but charge an awful lot for their service. Yes they may take a few pics and send them out to prospective buyers but that's pretty much it. I'll therefore give myself a few weeks trying to get a private sale and if that doesn't work I'll bring in an Estate Agent and see whether they can assist. I'm giving the house 6 months to sell which hopefully will be ample time. Fingers Crossed !It will be a shame to see it go as I love it. Its not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but its nice and cosy and it's mine !

Still onwards and upwards....John

First Post

Well we've all got to start somewhere !

Thought, i'd best set up a blog to record my adventures as I start the process of emigrating to new Zealand. The application is in and now I'm waiting for the Immigration Service to issue the visa. Hopefully it'll be PR but if not, I'll no doubt get the slightly less attractive, WTR. I do think it's going to be a couple of months before anything comes through however. Consequently, I'm not expecting anything before May.

I'm also waiting on the NZ employment consultant to arrange some interviews and once done, I'll no doubt be popping over to NZ to try and land a job. I'll also use the time to do a recce for potential suburbs to live and generally try and get into Kiwi life for the couple of weeks I'm there, prior to the big move.

My house will go up for sale in a week or so, once the decorating is complete. The house looks fine as it is but it just needs a little freshening up. Hopefully I'll sell without any drama's and then will try and co-ordinate everything so that I'm not homeless before the "big" move. If I am, well I guess there's always the parents !!

Work don't know about my plans as yet and I'm not telling them until at least the annual appraisal and pay rise has been agreed. That way only my work will be judged upon which should guarantee me at least the average award but hopefully more. I'm not sure how they'll react when i tell them but I guess that's just another one of the hurdles that I'll have to face as I go through this process.

Anyway, must crack on !

Exciting this emmigration lark isn't it ??
